Summary

Provides transitional leadership and project oversight in the deployment of strategic business development opportunities to drive organizational growth and expand market position. Works under the leadership of Vice President Operations, Regional Markets and Hospitals and Affiliate Integration to provide recommendations based upon research and analysis for potential healthcare transactions resulting in mergers and/or acquisitions. Develops/implements a comprehensive master project plan which acts as a road map throughout all phases of the due diligence process. Works with multi-functional integration teams from both organizations and ensures critical milestones are met throughout the varying phases of the transition process. Project leadership accountabilities include but are not limited to standardization of systems where appropriate, identification of efficiencies, synergies, or other costs associated with transaction, integration of performance improvement strategies, utilization of resources and budgetary oversight, and implementation of clinical/business initiatives, processes and communication plans resulting in a smooth transition throughout the pre/post merger/acquisition process and/or other strategic business projects/transactions.

Works for and in coordination with the Vice President, Operations, Regional Markets and Hospitals and Affiliate Integration (hereafter Vice President) regarding all essential functions. Serves as project leader in the merger/acquisition process and other strategic business projects from due diligence to the conclusion of the contractual arrangement working in collaboration and partnership with Vice Present and other executive leaders from each organization and with large transitional teams representing all key stakeholders in the integration process.

Responsibilities

  • Participates in strategic planning process to support organizational growth initiatives.
  • Researches, analyzes, and evaluates "best practices" relative to health care delivery and business/financial models as it pertains to operationalizing merger/acquisition and health care strategies to include compliance with all federal, state and local regulatory agencies.
  • Provides project oversight on various business arrangements to include mergers/acquisitions, joint ventures, contractual management agreements, consulting engagements, and/or internal/external business realignment relative to business development and/or other potential business/healthcare transactions.
  • Designs master project plans and deployment strategies to ensure key milestones are successfully accomplished in accordance to the agreed upon timeline.
  • Works with VP and other executive leaders on the formation of multi-functional transitional teams to actively involve key leaders and constituents from both organizations so that there is active participation and engagement in addressing transformation, integration and pre and post-merger/acquisition operations. Evaluates contingency plans as needed to support new business model.
  • Utilizes the Baptist Management System using lean methodologies.
  • Works in conjunction with the Chief Improvement Officer post close to achieve long-term scalability, reduce operational costs, and drive operational and service efficiencies within the new Baptist business model. Works collaboratively with various teams to design and/or implement strategies and tools for operational and service improvements in clinical and non-clinical areas, including physician practices.
  • Maintains understanding of the competitive environment in healthcare and provides a clear business rationale for new partnership(s) to include a culture assessment.
  • Ensures communication plans are designed to proactively reach a variety of audiences throughout strategic business development projects in include board members, organizational leaders, team members, physicians and the community. Communicates new vision throughout the process.
  • Performs other accountabilities as assigned or directed.


Requirements, Preferences and Experience

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Health Care Administration or related field or related experience.
  • Master's Degree and PMP Certification preferred. 5 years progressive, out-come oriented experience in a medium to large multi-hospital system.
  • Knowledge of health care issues, trends, legal compliance, and business models to promote system growth through strategic business projects/initiatives.
  • Skill in all facets of project management to include leading/managing a variety of multi-functional teams from inception of project to conclusion and meeting prescribed timelines/deliverables.
  • Ability to develop action plans based upon complex business/clinical analytics using the lean methodology tools. Ability to foster collaborative partnerships in the development, implementation and administration of strategic business projects providing leadership oversight. Excellent organizational, interpersonal and presentation skills.
