Summary

Coordinates and manages the education programs and activities for staff in all hospital areas. Coordinates and manages education of the patient and community. Maintains required records and documentation for all staff education, inservices, and point of care testing. The incumbent is under the direction of the Chief Nursing Officer. The normal work schedule is Monday through Friday. However, to meet the needs of the patients and staff, classes, inservices, meetings, etc. may occur after normal business hours and on weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

  • Plans, coordinates, conducts education programs and activities to include hospital staff, patient, and community education in accordance with the philosophy and objectives of the hospital.
  • In conjunction with the department managers, plans & coordinates initial orientation and annual training hospital-wide. Conducts nursing orientation for new employees. Will assist the area nurse manager with assessing initial and annual competencies and performance appraisals. This includes training on new equipment.
  • Serves as a role model and facilitates BMH-Huntingdon visions/values through personal examples and interactions with staff. Assists with nursing policy, procedure, and goal development. Communicates these changes and updates to enhance nursing employee skills, management, and leadership in conjunction with the Nurse Manager.
  • Facilitates customer satisfaction by communicating and interacting with internal and external customers to identify opportunities for improvement resulting in enhanced service and customer satisfaction.
  • Plans, coordinates, and consults to provide on-going growth and development related to Patient Education.
  • Maintains current clinical knowledge of nursing practices and application of approaches to the delivery of care appropriate to the individual's age, condition, and situation.
  • Maintains skills and knowledge through training and continuing education to provide expected standards of care.
  • Performs related accountabilities/responsibilities as required or directed.

Minimum: ASN

Experience

Preferred: 5 years

Minimum: 1 year

Licensure, Registration, Certification

Minimum: State of TN
