SummaryUnder the direction of the Lab Services Director develops, administers, directs and implements all lab and related patient care activities, for areas of accountability. Works in close collaboration with the lab and medical assistant team to meet and support training and regulatory needs.
Responsibilities- Responsibilities include but are not limited to standardization of systems, identification of efficiencies, integration of performance improvement strategies, processes and communication plans which support lab goal attainment while fostering patient, physician and employee satisfaction.
- Serves as a resource for lab orders and procedures as well as regulatory requirements and insurance limitations.
- Develops testing and training as needed in order to meet operational requirements.
- Utilizes Laboratory skills to perform and report results of clearly defined laboratory procedures assuring optimal patient outcomes.
- Responsible for assigned shifts and subject to overtime and call back as required.
- Helps with the training of other employees under the direction of the technical consultant/lab director. Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements, Preferences and ExperienceExperience:Recent consecutive experience in specialty to include the demonstrated abilities in teaching and/or human resource management.
Minimum Required: 5 years lab experience
Preferred / Desired: Management experience preferred. Experience in a clinic setting.
Education:Minimum Required: BS Degree in medical technology from a NAACLS accredited MT program. State Licensure and/or National registration or certification in concordance with current Federal and/or State Regulations.
Training:Minimum Required: NAACLS program completed, or experience as required. QA management experience 1 yr. minimum
Preferred / Desired: Diagnostic coding for medical necessity. Heme and Chem experience preferred.
Special Skills:Minimum Required: Familiar with computer and computerized equipment, organization and team skills. 2-year phlebotomy and triage
Preferred / Desired
: EMR proficiency dealing with ref labs Insurance pertaining to labs Bone marrow collection preferred Supply management experience preferred.
Licensure:Nationally accepted laboratory certifying agency. Specialty certs may include SBB. SC, SH, SI, SM.
Minimum Required: AMT, ASCP, MT, NCA
Preferred / Desired: MT SU
