Physiologist-Exercise I - JS Cardiac Rehab MBMC

Summary

Assist in the implementation of all outpatient cardiac rehab programs and operations. Performs all other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

• Basic knowledge of exercise physiology, nutrition, risk-factor and behavior modification strategies, counseling techniques, and uses of educational programs and technologies as applied to cardiovascular rehabilitative services. 20 %
• Assist in implementing daily operations of outpatient cardiac rehabilitation. Implement programs and activities of cardiac rehab as assigned by the cardiovascular nurse. 20 %
• Plans and educates participants regarding home program and assists with interdepartmental programs and other community service events and activities. 20 %
• Maintain responsibility for attendance, punctuality and professionalism to ensure that outpatient cardiac rehab is operated in an efficient manner. Take responsibility for personal education and professional development. Monitors participants and reports any inappropriate responses to exercise. Terminates exercise as needed. 10 %
• Performs exercises with participants. Demonstrates correct body position and proper use of equipment to prevent injury and adhere to exercise prescription. 10 %
• Initially assesses participant relevant to exercise physiology to develop a plan of care with other team members. Prepares and adjusts individual exercise prescription in accordance with GXT and physician recommendations on a regular basis. 10 %
• Assists with emergency care according to standing orders. 10 %

Requirements, Preferences and Experience

Education

Preferred: Master's Degree Exercise Physiology Preferred.

Minimum: Bachelor's Degree Exercise Physiology Required.

Experience

Minimum: Healthcare/Medical-Cardiac Services Required.

Licensure, Registration, Certification

Preferred: Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification Preferred.

Minimum: License/Certification/Registries (valid for the State of MS): Basic Life Support (CPR) Certification within 14 Days of Employment Required.
