Responsible for managing the lease-related accounting activities for the Baptist system. Provides guidance and direction for lease accounting activities and systems and financial reporting as assigned. Establishes and ensures appropriate reporting and audit schedules. Responsibilities
-Ability to understand and provide appropriate accounting treatment for certain contracts, such as but not limited to, lease agreement, renewal, amendment and termination.
-Perform month-end close activities related to lease accounting.
-Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts related to lease accounting such as but not limited to, right-of-use (ROU) asset, ROU liability - short term/long-term, and the related rent expense accounts on a monthly basis.
- Provide schedule for annual audit and update the related footnotes in the external financial statements.
-Support Lease Query users in the Baptist system by providing guidance, training and ability to give direction on unusual circumstances.
-Maintain Lease Management System while transitioning to Lease Query solution.
-Coordinate with Accounts Payable on the timely processing of lease payment.
-Manage the successful implementation of Infor Lawson and Lease Query interface (accounts payable and general ledger).
-Manage internal and external relations to key stakeholders such as Directors, Controllers and accounting team members, Supply Chain, IT and Lease Query support team.
-Manage the appropriate lease accounting policy and continuously update it on a timely manner.
-Ability to participate in and facilitate group meetings.
-Supervise, train and coach for continuous development of a team member.
-Assists during the interim and fiscal year-end audit through timely submission and analysis of audit-related inquiries.
-Ability to perform accounting research for non-recurring accounting transactions and recommend appropriate accounting treatment.
-Assists in the preparation of quarterly reports to be uploaded to Sharepoint.
-Assists in the preparation of certain schedules during annual audit.
-Perform other duties as assigned. Requirements, Preferences and Experience
Bachelor's degree in Accounting
Active CPA license
8-10 years of related accounting experience
Proficient in accounting software, preferably Lawson and Lease Query
Public accounting experience is preferred
Thorough knowledge of GAAP and other accounting standards
Work requires professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
Attention to detail and thoroughness
Flexible and can manage multiple projects.
Strong time management and people skills.
