Coder-Lead - HS Coding Corporate

Summary

Codes activities including: providing expertise in the coding of diagnoses and procedures, staying current with coding changes, and serving as a resource to coding staff, clinical documentation specialists (CDS) and /or others as requested. Performs other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

• Provides expertise in the coding of diagnoses and procedures.
• Serves as liaison between the coders, the Clinical Documentation Specialists (CDS) and Quality Coding Services.
• Coordinates abstracting and code corrections.
• Assists in the ongoing testing and updating of coding and abstracting systems.
• Evaluates coding changes/questions/challenges from Quality Improvement Organization (QIO), Quality Coding Services, and payors.
• Completes assigned goals.

Requirements, Preferences and Experience

Education

Minimum: Skill in communicating clearly and effectively using standard English in written, oral and verbal format to achieve high productivity and efficiency. Still to write legibly and record information accurately as necessary to perform job duties.

Experience

Minimum: Skill and proficiency in coding inpatient and outpatient records utilizing ICD CM and CPT4 through 3 years experience in an acute care facility.

Training

Preferred: CPT-4 Coding

Minimum: ICD CM Diagnosis and Procedure Coding
