Summary

Provides innovative leadership to maximize the department's contribution to overall hospital performance through effective planning as well as human and financial resource management which result in quality outcomes in line with financial goals of the institution. Responsible for assuring compliance with local, state and federal regulations as well as accrediting organizations as it pertains to insurance billing and/or AR follow-up activities. Incumbent is accountable for departmental management 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. Incumbents are subject to hours beyond the normal workday.

Responsibilities

  • Accountable for meeting and/or exceeding all key performance indicators for the Medicaid AR Follow-Up Team.
  • Organizes, administers and evaluates activities through procedures which adhere to policies of the department in order to manage business office functions pertaining to Medicaid AR Follow-Up activities.
  • Produces timely and accurate financial reports required for efficient management and appropriate for decision making and planning within the department/organization.
  • Recommends staff appointments and directs, supports and supervises staff through daily interaction to ensure optimal functioning of the department and development of staff skills/abilities.
  • Serves as data governance subject matter expert for the Medicaid AR Follow-Up Team and is responsible for the definitions, processes and procedures, quality, accuracy and maintenance within the Medicaid AR Follow-Up Team.
  • Promotes an atmosphere of teamwork and positive attitudes within the Medicaid AR Follow-Up Team.
  • Performs related accountabilities/responsibilities as required or directed.
  • Responsible for planning, implementation and marketing of services which meet the needs of identified internal and external customers. This responsibility is to be accomplished through ongoing evaluation and assessment of customer needs and expectations, identification of gaps between needs/expectations and present services which will result in development of improvement plans with measurable goals (with specific accountability and time frames) to enhance services.


Requirements, Preferences and Experience

Education

Preferred: MBA/MHA or equivalent work experience with demonstrated results preferred.

Minimum: Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience with demonstrated results

Experience

Preferred: Epic experience highly desired.

Minimum: Minimum of 5 years related experience and/or training, and 2 years related management experience, with experience within a large integrated healthcare delivery system preferred.

Special Skills

Minimum: Broad knowledge in business administration, finance, healthcare administration, etc.

Training

Preferred: Direct experience dealing with the Arkansas Medicaid, Mississippi Medicaid and/or Tennessee Medicaid administrative billing guidelines and rules. Knowledge of Medicare Cost Reports as it relates to the appropriate handling of Medicare Bad Debt

Minimum: Broad knowledge of Medicaid administrative billing guidelines and rules.
