Summary

Provides strategic and operational financial leadership and direction for the BMG, a large multispecialty medical group practice located throughout the Baptist Memorial Health Care's tri-state system. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, setting BMG financial direction, standardization of operations/services to include primary care and specialty groups, ambulatory surgery centers, and ancillary services and capabilities, physician compensation and compliance, and business development. Utilizes various data sources, benchmarks, and business analytics to strengthen financial planning, reporting, budgeting, accounting, and forecasting on future growth opportunities. Works with BMG CEO, Vice President, Financial Operations, other senior Baptist clinical and operational leaders, physicians, and key other stakeholders to prioritize and align new strategic projects with Baptist's system and market initiatives. Implements productivity/labor cost strategies, allocates resources and materials, and provides support to BMG revenue cycle to drive efficiencies and strong financial performance. Provides oversight of BMG financial processes, systems, and technology. Supports a culture of respect, service, and teamwork in alignment with Baptist's mission, vison, values and principles.

Essential Accountabilities

1.Participates in the strategic planning process in collaboration with the BMG CEO and Vice President of Finance to ensure appropriate financial targets/goals are developed.

2.Implements the annual operating plans and programs necessary to meet and support strategic direction established by Baptist.

3.Works in close coordination with BMG operational team, including physicians, and other key Baptist operational and clinical leaders to drive efficiencies, processes, resource allocation, and improvement efforts to optimize financial, operational, and workforce performance.

4.Provides oversight for BMG financial planning, reporting, forecasting, budgeting, and accounting areas and processes to ensure accurate and sustainable financial operations. Implements internal controls to protect the integrity, reliability, and accuracy of information used for financial reporting purposes and to mitigate financial risks.

5.Overseesphysician compensation function based upon various or established compensation practices and/or approved contractual arrangements to include incentives. Ensures compliance with regulatory standards working in close collaboration with Corporate Legal on physician compensation matters.

6.Analyzes key performance indicators (KPI) to identify areas for improvement in BMG revenue cycle efficiency to include billing, coding, collections, and optimizing patient billing practices. Works in coordination with BMG CEO and in partnership with the Vice President and Chief Revenue Officer.

7.Researches, analyzes, and evaluates various data sources/business analytics, benchmarks, and trends.Reports on findings and makes recommendations regarding "best practices" to strengthen financial viability, reimbursement and/or care delivery models, business development opportunities, service expansion/consolidation, and workforce/productivity measures.

8.Uses approved metrics, tools, and technology to monitor and communicate financial data, updates, generate reports, and financial reviews with various audiences and stakeholders to include physicians.Makes recommendations regarding financial performance and/or improvement tactics or strategies to guide data driven and/or operational decision making.

9.Leads, trains, mentors, and supports BMG finance team in order to build an engaged, highly skilled, and service oriented team.

10.Performs other accountabilities as assigned or directed.

Requirements, Preferences and Experience
Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or related field. Master's Degree and/or CPA designation preferred but not required.
8 years progressive, out-come oriented finance experience with a minimum of 5 years of leadership experience in a medium to large physician group practice. Experience working in a health care system preferred.
Possesses knowledge of health care finance, revenue cycle operations, and trends in physician group practice financial management to include value based care, care coordination, reimbursement models, mergers/acquisitions and other business opportunities, legal compliance, and physician compensation.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and presentation skills to effectively communicate complex information concisely to various audiences.
  • Proven ability to lead and inspire teams while driving financial and operational performance.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience leveraging data to drive decisions.
  • Ability to foster and build collaborative partnerships and maintain strong internal and external relationships in the implementation and administration of program delivery.
