Fellow-Advanced Practice Provider, Neurocritical Care

Summary

Educational program integrating didactic instruction and direct patient care management experiences in a specialty medical and/or surgical practice. Clinical training includes direct patient care under close supervision of attending physicians and senior Advanced Practice Providers within the Department. Length of fellowship is 12-month appointment.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts and documents comprehensive initial and ongoing patient physical examinations based on age and diagnosis, including psychological status
  • Synthesizes data and utilizes evidence to develop, implement, and evaluate the patient plan of care, including ordering and interpreting laboratory, radiology, and other diagnostic studies/results
  • Demonstrates proficiency in technical/procedural skills, as appropriate and based on specialty and training
  • Provides relevant management, referrals, counseling, and education to patients, families, and caregivers related to current care and preventive health measures
  • Facilitates/participates in quality related initiatives and/or clinical research protocols through planned group processes, workshops, seminars, and staff meetings, to improve clinical and system practice performance.
  • Attends all required didactic, educational and conferences as assigned.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Requirements, Preferences and Experience

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

Graduate of a Master's degree or higher ARC-PA accredited Physician Assistant Program and certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants. Current Physician Assistant License

OR

Master's degree or higher in nursing from an accredited Advanced Practice Nurse Education Program. Appropriate Advanced Practice Nurse Certification consistent with clinical practice area and patient population. RN license and APRN license with prescriptive authority authorization.

AND

Maintains current Basic Life Support issued by the American Heart Association. Maintains Advanced Cardiac Life Support. Additional certification may be required as determined by program director.
