Summary Under the direction of the Director for Career Development, the Manager -Career Development is responsible for leading and managing the career advisor team and participating in the facilitation of systems and processes to help team members develop the capabilities and knowledge needed to grow their career at Baptist.
Responsibilities - Works closely with the Director of Career Development to facilitate the planning, delivery, and evaluation of career development activities
- Develops and utilizes reports and analytics to measure effectiveness of coaching/advising and career development efforts
- Supports advisor team to develop their confidence and depth of understanding in effective career advising
- LMA (lead your team, manage your team, keep your team accountable)
- Supports team members and students interns in employment, career decision-making and strategy, and further education contexts
- Facilitates career development through advising, workshops, webinars, presentations, events and resources to meet team member needs; performs functions of career advisor
- Assists in outreach programs to promote career development services among team members, students, and the community
- Performs all other related duties assigned by the Director for Career Development
Requirements, Preferences and Experience Education Preferred: Master's degree in education, psychology, counseling, social development, human resources or similar field.
Minimum: Bachelor's Degree in psychology, counseling, vocational psychology; or degree in similar field supplemented by training or experience in career development
Experience Preferred: Supervisory experience leading teams
Minimum: 3-5 years related to academic advising, career development, career placement, employment counseling, or adult education
Special Skills Preferred: Proficient in the use of technology to include video presentation, word processing, database and spreadsheet applications
Minimum: Strong writing, mentoring, decision making, communication, and meeting skills Ability to train, mentor and develop others Ability to use tact, diplomacy and discretion when dealing with others Ability to exercise good judgment in analyzing and evaluating situations/circumstances and solving problemsEffective organizational skills to handle conflicting priorities, multi-task and meet deadlines Ability to exercise initiative and work effectively as a team member to achieve and support unit/organizational goals Collaborative decision making and supportive of outcomes A flexible and adaptable approach to work
Training Preferred: Career coach/advisor certification
