Minimum: Basic computer literacy. Demonstrated competency in: -Performing pediatric phlebotomy procedures (heel stick, finger stick, venipuncture) -Knowledge of the various needle sizes as to gauge, length, and purpose -Knowledge of the types of evacuated tubes by color code, the anticoagulants & additives present -Knowledge of the factors that influence the integrity of a blood specimen -Proper label application -Knowledge of why blood should not be drawn from a hematoma, burned or scarred area, or an arm adjacent to a mastectomy.Training
Preferred: Training as acquired in an approved phlebotomy training program.
