Representative-Physician Referral Pharmacy Tech I

Summary

Assists patients with financial need to obtain high cost pharmaceuticals by utilizing charity and discount programs. Acts a patient resource and advocate.

Responsibilities

• Completes extensive paperwork from pharmaceutical companies in order to obtain a prior authorization.
• Researches pharmaceutical companies charity programs that will assist with financial needs of our patients.
• Register patients with pharmaceutical company's charity or discount programs.
• Provides prescription education to patients when needed.
• Communicates with patients to learn about challenges or barriers in obtaining medications.
• Completes mandatory training and in-services.
• Acquires knowledge and skills appropriate to the specialty area/practice setting.
• Seeks experience and learning activities to maintain and develop clinical skills and knowledge.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements, Preferences and Experience

Education

Minimum: High School Diploma or equivalent

Experience

Minimum: One year of relevant experience

Licensure, Registration, Certification

Minimum: PHARM TECH

Special Skills

Minimum:

• Able to communicate professionally over the phone and in person, including but not limited to patients, clinical staff and pharmaceutical representatives
• Familiarity with office tools and processes
• Solid organizational and communication skills
• Problem solving and analytical skills
• Able to maintain confidentiality

Training

• Ability to research patient records
• Knowledge of medical terminology
