Summary

Exclusively designed for the Allied Health professional with at least a 2 year degree and enrolled in the AHIMA Cancer Information Management Certificate Program. Credentialling (CTR) must be obtained within 18 months of commencement of program. Performs casefinding, abstractiing, and patient follow-up while demonstrating incremental knowledge in cancer coding principles using FORDS, ICD-O, Collaborative Staging, Multiple Primary & Histology Coding Rules, AJCC Staging, and State cancer reporting guidelines. Must meet the Baptist Tumor Registry incremental competency timeframe. Must demonstrate attention to de tail, possess organizational skills, multi-tasking abilities, time management skills, and has strong verbal and written communication skills. Performs other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Versed in State cancer reporting and American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer Cancer Program Standards and cancer reporting standards.
  • Manages Supense Data
  • Case abstraction
  • Cancer Coding
  • Cancer Staging
  • Cancer patient surveillance
  • Performs other duties as assigned


Requirements, Preferences and Experience

Education

Preferred: RHIT, RHIA or cancer-related allied health field preferred.

Minimum: At least a 2 year degree in an Allied Health field and enrollment in an NCRA-Accredited Formal Education Program.

Experience

Preferred: RHIT, RHIA or cancer-related allied health field preferred.

Minimum: At least 6 months experience in an Allied Health field.

Licensure, Registration, Certification

Preferred: RHIA;RHIT

Special Skills

Preferred: Understanding of medical coding a plus.

Minimum: Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Word, Excel and Power Point.

Training

Minimum: Strong command of medical terminology and anatomy.
