Chief-Security - CS Security University

Summary

Directs security department, including personnel and processes, in implementing the University security and property-protection programs. Under the general supervision of the Director of Safety and Organizational Compliance, this person overseas the responsibility of campus security 24/7. The Chief of Security is also responsible for compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal regulations required for institutions of higher education security departments. This position as Chief also includes serving as the University Clery Compliance Officer. Incumbents are subject to hours beyond the normal workday.The person in this position will serve as a Campus Security Authority (CSA). A CSA has significant responsibility for student and campus activities and is designated as an individual to whom students and employees should report criminal offenses. It is the responsibility of the CSA to report to the Security Office all allegations of crimes.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for planning, establishing, and implementing security program/procedures for the department and the University.
• Directs and supervises security personnel; makes decisions for hiring and dismissal and conducts performance reviews.
• Initiate emergency response in time of crisis and responds to and takes charge of incidents of unlawfulness, violence, and misconduct.
• Compiles submits and maintains reports to meet regulatory requirements, and accreditation requirements including the filing of incident reports and daily crime log as required by Clery Act and TIBRS reporting to the State of Tennessee.
• Creates and monitors department budget to assure proper Security operations.
• Creates educational and training opportunities for campus-wide security and crime prevention initiatives.
• Performs other accountabilities as required or directed.
