Directs volunteer services by coordinating and providing leadership through recruitment, placement and retention of volunteers serving throughout Baptist Memorial Hospital- Golden Triangle. This position is under the general direction of the Administrative Manager for Marketing/Education/Physician Relations/Occupational Health/Volunteer Services. The incumbent is responsible for all functions, 1 shift, 5 days/week, 7.5 hours/day but are subject to overtime and call back as required by BMHCC. Performs other duties as assigned.


  • Recruits volunteers and strives to be of assistance to them in making sure their needs are meet and works to obtain a match between the volunteer and the job/area of responsibility.
  • Works with the managers of various departments to assure the volunteer job descriptions are current.
  • Coordinates orientation sessions with new volunteers and volunteer chaplains including assessing competencies and maintains volunteer files on each individual as required by JCAHO and other regulatory agencies.
  • Conducts non-employee orientations for all students and others where applicable. Maintains files on each individual as required by JCAHO and other regulatory agencies.
  • Plans and implements all volunteer recognition activities and performs ongoing assessment of customers' response to services
  • Works with the Emergency Department Manager and staff to assure that the student volunteer works together with the ED staff and physicians so the full benefit of the Experience Critical volunteer program is met. Coordinates orientations to the program.
  • Serves as an overseer of the Gift Shop by assisting in the daily operations, merchandiser and buying in addition to facilitating the Hospitality Room program
  • Serves as the administrative assistant for Service First.
  • Performs related accountabilities/responsibilities as required or directed.

Requirements, Preferences and Experience


Preferred: Bachelor Degree in business/communications or related field.

Minimum: 2-year degree or equivalent in business or related field.


Preferred: 4 years experience in the customer service field and 2 years experience in working with computers in Microsoft Word, Excel and Publisher. Computer skills required.
