Summary Provide leadership and vision for the Health Sciences Library collections and user services. As a member of the management team, this position will participate in setting the library's strategic direction and pursue partnerships with other campus units to achieve the library's vision. Under the general supervision of the Dean of Student Success, responsible for shifts equal to 40 hours per week. Incumbents are subject to hours beyond the normal workday.
Responsibilities Direct the day to day operations of the library; provide research assistance; develop and review library policies and procedures. Supervise the recruitment, development, and performance of library staff; coordinate the development of content and delivery of information literacy instruction and advocate for the integration of library resources and services into academic program learning outcomes.
Collect and analyze usage statistics, assess library services and programs, prepare reports, and make recommendations for strategic planning and decision making; assist in analyzing financial needs, developing budget requests and monitoring/expenditures for the operation of the library; negotiate online database, journal, and e-book access; conduct research on innovative library products and services and make cost-effective recommendations. • Maintain knowledge of trends in library services, assessment, technology, and information literacy; serve on college committees as appropriate; represent the library in regional and national organizations including the Memphis Area Library Council.
Ensure that required reports for federal agencies including the Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS) annual library report, are submitted on time and provide accurate information. Develop annual assessment plans, identifying designated benchmarks, measurement tools, and outcomes. Analyze and use data to enhance library services and resources.
Manage the Health Science Library's electronic resource collection to ensure that online holdings are accessible on campus and remotely through the library's EBSCO Discovery Service Product and Fulltext Finder tool.
Present evidence during the on-site evaluation and interview process to meet accreditation standards for all programs.
Administer the operational management of the library through interviewing, hiring, training, and evaluating staff to promote quality library services.
Requirements, Preferences and Experience Education Minimum: Master's Degree in Library Science or Information Science from an ALA-accredited program.
Preferred: Second advanced degree.
ExperienceMinimum: Five (5) or more years library experience, at least (2) two years of supervisory experience.
