Summary

The Director of Standardized Patient training and Medical Education Simulation will support Baptist University College of Osteopathic Medicine (BUCOM) faculty and students participating in healthcare simulation with the goal of producing competent and holistic physicians. Work with BUCOM faculty to design instructional experiences that support the mission and goals of the College and University. Manages the BUCOM simulation/standardized patient program, facilities operations, scheduling and logistics for all learning and assessment events in the simulation and standardized patient center. Under the general direction of the Assistant Dean of Administration, Operations, and Services, responsible for 8 hours/day, 5 days/week.Incumbents are subject to hours beyond the normal workday.

Responsibilities

  1. Coordinate with BUCOM faculty and simulation staff to design and implement simulation and standardized patient events for assessment of osteopathic medical students.
  2. Participate in ongoing strategic planning for the simulation and standardized patient centers.
  3. Provide direct supervision and leadership for all staff involved in the Standardized Patient and Simulation centers at BUCOM.


Requirements, Preferences and Experience

Minimum Qualifications:

Master's degree in a health sciences field or bachelor's in education with focus on post-secondary education

Three (3) years' academic medical school leadership experience in a simulation and/or standardized patient activities.

Will consider Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE) or Certified Healthcare Simulation Operations Specialist (CHSOS) with appropriate experience

Strong knowledge of medical simulation technologies, server-based technologies, and/or IP technologies (IPE and IPEC competencies).

Excellent time management, organizational skills, and critical thinking capability.

Preferred Qualifications:

MD, DO, or PhD with experience in healthcare simulation and/or medical education or Masters or Doctorate Degree in Medical/Healthcare Simulation

Strong administrative, organizational and communication skills

Familiarity with data gathering and analysis

Experience with budgeting and personnel management

Ability to prioritize and balance competing demands
