Histotechnician - JS Path-Anatomic Path/Cytology Jackson

Summary

Performs histological analyses; recognizes problems, identifies basic causes and makes corrections by using present strategies; correlates data based on knowledge of technical and instrumental conditions affecting test results; performs quality control procedures within predetermined parameters. Performs all other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

• Performs histological analyses following prescribed procedures.
• Implement, maintain and assess requirements of the Laboratory's Quality Assurance (QA) Program, including participation in process improvement activities as requested by supervisor. Assist in implementation of new histology techniques and testing systems.
• Operate and maintain laboratory instruments to include daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and as needed maintenance. Contact customer support to troubleshoot problems.
• Instruct personnel in procedural techniques, as assigned according to established competency standards.
• Implement, maintain and adhere to all elements of the Laboratory's specimen collection, processing and handling systems in order to ensure the highest level of specimen, block and slide integrity.
• Review and follow policies and procedures for compliance with regulatory agency requirements for accreditation, as noted by the supervisor.
• Demonstrates commitment to professional growth and competency.

Requirements, Preferences and Experience

Education

Minimum: Completion of Histotech Training Program.

Experience

Preferred: 3 years Healthcare/Medical-Histology

Licensure, Registration, Certification

Minimum: License/Certification/Registries (valid for the State of MS): Histotechnologist (HTL) or HT(ASCP) Certification Required.
