The Baptist University College of Osteopathic Medicine (BUCOM) Grant Writer will identify external funding sources, aid in the development of proposals and budgets, and streamline submission processes to support existing and planned research and outreach activities. The incumbent will support the writing and submission of grant proposals to Federal, state, and private funding agencies as well as act as a liaison between BUCOM, other divisions of BHSU, additional entities within the Baptist Medical Corporation system, and external collaborators.


1.Identify and disseminate funding opportunities from government and non-government agencies that align with the structure, policies, objectives, and needs of the organization

2.Work with BUCOM faculty and staff to develop and draft proposals, create budgets, and prepare supporting documentation for funding within the funding opportunity guidelines and deadlines within the policies and procedures of the BMHCC system

3.Act as a liaison pertaining to grant proposals, budgets, and submissions between BUCOM, other divisions of BHSU, additional entities within BMHCC, and external collaborators

4.Create and maintain a master calendar for grant schedules and award report deadlines

5.Respond to internal and external queries on drafted and submitted proposals

6.Maintain records and submit reports related to grant opportunities and awards

Requirements, Preferences and Experience

Bachelor's degree in a related field

Three (3) years grant proposal writing experience and award management

Ability to work under a deadline

Excellent research and writing skills

Excellent time management, organizational skills, and critical thinking capability

Strong administrative, organizational and communication skills
