Candidates must be flexible and able to manage competing/changing priorities in a fast-paced environment, where documentation may need to include multiple versions based on user needs.
ResponsibilitiesWe are seeking a knowledgeable, self-motivated candidate who can:
• Create documentation that is usable, friendly, and easy to understand so that we can:
oReduce the amount of time people spend calling the Help Desk for items they can solve themselves
oLower the number of front-line calls, making it easier for the Help Desk to respond to those more complex situations that require more time
• Use excellent technical communication skills to:
oMonitor and help revise the writing quality of job aids and articles.
oDevelop job aids to support BTS Communications for ongoing major projects
• Work with key leaders of Baptist Technology Services (BTS) to draft Post Incident Review reports. Drafting these reports will require the writer to gather all evidence surrounding an event and provide the narrative for how it was resolved.
• Assess documentation needs, analyze current information available to identify gaps, and recommend solutions
• Effectively capture, organize, and share knowledge to drive innovation and enable informed decision making
• Follow industry-standard technical communication processes to develop the information, including:
oUsing BMHCC-approved templates, conventions, and style guides
oObtaining access to tools, applications, and systems necessary to document the information
oResearching the requirements and identifying all pertinent information that needs to be included
oCollaborating with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) in Baptist Technology Services (BTS) to understand the subject matter and processes needed
oParticipating in Teams calls as needed with SMEs to observe processes and confirm order of steps, decisions made, and tools used
oFollowing approved technical communication development, editing, revision, review, and approval processes
• Stay current on BTS Communications trends, tools, and methodologies to continuously improve our information sharing capabilities
Requirements, Preferences and Experience• 5 years of technical communications experience
• Bachelor's degree in English, Technical Communications, or related field preferred. Linguistic focus a bonus
• Proven functional skills in technical communication. Provide a portfolio of your work.
• Excellent communication skills. The candidate must be able to:
oClearly convey complex technical information to a wide range of audiences - including BTS co-workers, managers, leadership, and team members
oArticulate points clearly and concisely
oTranslate complex instructions, processes, and information into sixth-grade level understanding
• A working technical knowledge background to be able to ask the right questions at the right time to the right people
• Experience with usability testing, analyzing, and developing content for best readability, and structuring information into memorable chunks
• Experience interpreting IT requirements, recognizing impact on processes, and making recommendations
• Proficiency with:
oMicrosoft Tools, including 365, Office.com, Teams, SharePoint, PowerPoint
oCreating and editing graphics and screen shots
oWorkflow tools such as Visio considered helpful
oProfessional editing
• Familiarity with:
oKeeping Employee and Patient Data Secure
oContent Management
oOracle ERP
oAzure/Citrix Virtual Desktops
