Summary To serve as a liaison between the hospital, doctor, and patient and/or patient's family, utilizing the nursing process in accordance with the policies and procedures of the Medical Center. Performs all other duties as assigned.

- Plans individualized patient care in collaboration with hospitalists and consultants. Communicates with patient, family, case manager, staff nurse, and social worker in the planning discharge process. 20 %
- Supports the hospitalist service and removes physicians from timely administrative duties. 20 %
- Ensures timely execution of physician orders by personally communicating with unit clerks and nursing staff. 20 %
- Provides individualized discharge instructions to patients with special needs and document appropriately. Follow-up by phone as needed. 10 %

Requirements, Preferences and Experience Education Minimum: Graduate School of Nursing-Accredited Required.
Experience Preferred: Endoscopy Lab: One year Med-Surg nursing. For Endoscopy Lab: critical care experience preferred.
Minimum: No Experience Required.
Licensure, Registration, Certification Preferred: ACLS Certification in Area of Practice Preferred. Critical Care: ACLS and CCRN Certification recommended. Emergency Department: Trauma Nurse Curriculum, CEN Certification, and PALS recommended. Endoscopy Lab: Affiliation with the Society for Gastroenterology Associates.
Minimum: License/Certification/Registries (valid for the State of MS): Registered Nurse (RN) Required. Basic Life Support (CPR) Certification within 14 Days of Employment Required. Critical Care and Emergency Department: Basic Critical Care and Basic EKG required. Mother/Baby: Drew Neonatal required. Labor/Delivery: Drew Neonatal, Fetal Monitoring, and Neonatal Resuscitation required. RCH: Basic Critical Care and Basic EKG required. Oncology: Chemotherapy required. Endoscopy Lab: Basic Critical Care and Basic EKG required.
