Overview

Summary

The Doctor of Nursing Practice Program Chair is responsible for leadership and management of all aspects of the educational program. The DNP Program Chair will be under the administrative direction of the Dean or designee. Is responsible for all aspects of program operation. Serves as a Campus Security Authority (CSA). A CSA has significant responsibility for student and campus activities and is designated as an individual to whom student and employees should report criminal offenses. It is the responsibility of the CSA to report all allegations of crimes to the campus Security Office. Position may require hours beyond the 8-hour workday  

Responsibilities

1.   Conducts and facilitates faculty and advisory board  
meetings for the program as necessary.  
2.   Functions as liaison and promotes collaborative  relationship between program and clinical practice  
affiliates.  
3.   Communicates institutional and program policies and 
goals to students, faculty, staff, and clinical affiliates.  
4.   Conducts appropriate educational, workforce, and  
professional practice analysis for use in strategic  planning for the program.  
5.   Provides recommendations to the leadership team  
regarding strategic program growth, direction and  organization for the program and initiatives.  
6.   Participates in college, community and national  activities to enhance the visibility of the program.  
7.   Participates in financial management of the program  
by determining program needs, making budget  recommendations, and managing resources to meet  the financial and workload expectations set by the  College. 

8.   Interviews, recommends for hiring, mentors,  supervises and evaluates program faculty, including  
adjunct faculty within the program.  
9.   Provides operational and management oversight of  
faculty workload and budget.  
10. Guides professional development activities of program 
faculty.  
 
 

Requirements

Knowledge/Experience/Education

  • Earned doctorate from an accredited institution in Nursing. NP certification required for teaching in selected graduate courses.  
  • Qualifications to provide academic and practice leadership in developing educational programs in nursing; course work at the graduate level in curriculum development and implementation or certification in nursing education.  
  • Online teaching experience preferred.   
     
  • Demonstrated ability to function effectively in a large, complex organization.  
     
  • 7 years college teaching experience in an accredited professional nursing program.   
     
  • 3 years of administrative experience or equivalent in an accredited professional nursing program.  
     
  • Experience with baccalaureate and graduate education in nursing preferred. 
     
  • Experience with accreditation ( SACSCOC, CCNE, other) 
     

Licensure/Registration/Certification

  • Minimum Rank: Associate Professor 
  • Current nursing licensure/certification to practice in the State of Tennessee. 
  • Current advanced practice licensure/certification to practice in the State of Tennessee or eligible for an unencumbered APRN license in TN. 
  • Adult-Gerontology Acute Care desired.
