Summary Oversees the development and continuation of programs to support the Baptist mission. Works closely with physicians, patients, families and hospitals on issues to improve patient care. Serves as educator, liaison and coordinator for the program.
The registered nurse will assist in the direct clinical care of the inpatient palliative medicine patient through assessment of patient symptoms: physical, emotional, and spiritual; as well as ongoing assessment of patients' responses to the team's treatment plan. Assists with direct care of patients through coordination of family meetings for goals of care discussions and facilitating ongoing discussions as patients' disease trajectory and goals continue to evolve. The RN also provides initiation, facilitation, and assistance with completion of advanced care planning. The RN also provides indirect patient care by participating in the palliative medicine daytime on-call service line through phone consultation with patients, families and hospital staff. The RN works in close collaboration with all members of the interdisciplinary team and in coordination with the nursing staff of the hospital. This individual plays a key role in supporting the clinical care for patients referred for palliative medicine consultation. The role includes working with the interdisciplinary palliative care consult team of physicians, advanced practice nurses, medical learners, chaplains, and social workers to deliver excellent patient and family care. This position supports the team in achieving clinical standards across the continuum of hospital, clinic and community settings, coordinates resources, and provides palliative nursing care.

Requirements, Preferences and Experience Education Preferred: Master degree
Minimum: BSN preferred, or completed within 2 years.
Experience Preferred: 3 years clinical nursing experience in acute care preferably including at least one year of critical care.

Licensure, Registration, Certification Minimum: RN;BLS CERTIFICATION WITHIN 14 DAYS OF HIRE
Training Preferred: Certification in specialty area.
