Summary

The Security Engineer role is response for the guided administrations of various aspects of the advanced computer system(s) and applications that are the responsibility of Information Technology Security. Assists with planning and coordination of unstructured activities around system use. Performs guided system installations and maintenance, produces training and education materials, and provides user support within a multiple application environment. Assist the IT Security leadership and peers in designing and implementing Baptist Technology Service security rules, processes, and procedures.

Responsibilities

    • Assists in the collection of and analyzing of security information for appropriate utilization, performance and potential security issues.
    • Assists in the identification of security risks, threats and vulnerabilities of networks, systems, applications and new technology initiatives.
    • Assist in the problem root causes determination to eliminate future instances and develop new standards to improve operations.
    • Works with system engineers to plan, coordinate, and tests installations, upgrades and changes to Security hardware/ software network.
    • Under supervision, installs and upgrades organization's business applications and systems.
    • Identifies and isolates system problems, working with vendors and/or users to correct errors and determine root cause to prevent future instances.
    • Assists in the development of standards for security, including customer support and operational readiness.
    • Tests security architecture and design solutions to produce detailed engineering specifications with recommended vendor technologies
    • Researches and recommends new technology to meet future organization requirements.
    • Works with end-users, technical staff and vendors to troubleshoot and implement solutions to unique problems or needs.
    • Participates in the planning of projects centered on information security requirements.
    • Documents all security related information accurately and in a timely manner.

    • Contributes security knowledge as a member of enterprise-level project teams.
    • Completes all other duties as assigned.


Requirements, Preferences and Experience
• Bachelors Degree or equivalent years experience
• 2 years security system engineering experience
• Experience with security system monitoring/response activities (firewalls, IDS/IPS, operating system audit logs, application or database audit logs, etc.) to support protect/defend/respond/recover requirements.
• Knowledge of computer networking, application and operating system security, administration and/or forensics (Windows, Unix/Linux, Macintosh).
• Knowledge of security auditing, reverse engineering, penetration testing (e.g. vulnerability scanning, application security testing, penetration testing, etc.)
• Knowledge of security incident response planning and execution.
• Continuing awareness of evolving technology threats and vulnerabilities .
• Ability to work within deadlines and with multiple priorities; ability to adapt to changing priorities
• Proven problem analysis skills and articulate communicator of complex technical and business topics with the ability to convert technical security related risk into business terms.
• Must be able and willing to provide 24x7 support for organizational incidents and event.
• Preferred experience assessing and managing the security of a large IT enterprise.
• Preferred demonstrated independent security growth and development activities within the security community.
• Preferred experience in healthcare and academia.
• Preferred experience assessing and managing the security of a large IT enterprise.
