Coordinator-Nursing Simulation and Skills Lab - CS Nursing Education University

Summary

Responsible for the management and oversight of the Nursing Simulation and Skills Labs. Facilitates the day-to-day lab operations, as well as coordination and management of simulation learning activities with nursing faculty. Works directly with nursing faculty to assist them in developing, implementing, assessing and coordinating simulation and lab skill activities that facilitate competency-based assessment learning environments. Under the administrative direction of the Dean and general direction of the Program Chairs. Incumbents are subject to hours beyond the normal workday.

Responsibilities

• Manages the operations of the Nursing simulation and lab skills learning environment, including the ordering, maintenance and inventory of equipment.
• Reviews and updates policies and procedures related to the operation and use of the Nursing simulation and lab skills learning environments.
• Collaborates with course faculty and IPE coordinator as appropriate, in the development of student learning outcomes and assessment of clinical abilities through use of a variety of lab/simulation learning activities.
• Collaborates with course faculty and IPE coordinator as appropriate, in the preparation and implementation of simulation learning activities.
• Coordinates and trains faculty for the facilitation of simulation activities, including the use of equipment.
• Remains current with trends, issues and practices related to health care education, including simulation.
• Engages in teaching, as compatible with the position.
• Demonstrates teamwork and collaboration in the Division and University through committee participation appropriate with the position.
• Performs related accountabilities/responsibilities as required or directed.

Requirements, Preferences and Experience

Education

Desired: Master's Degree in nursing education or in a health care professional discipline plus thirty (30) semester hours beyond the Master's in the professional discipline or Earned doctorate in education or a Ph.D. or a doctoral degree in the individual's professional practice area from an accredited institution of higher learning.

Minimum:

Experience

Desired: Four (4) years of clinical experience.Four (4) years college teaching experience or equivalent.Four (4) years of health care simulation experience.

Licensure, Registration, Certification

Desired: Certified Health Care Simulation Educator (CHSE) or equivalent training.
